God is creating a government (Is 9:6-7; 65:17-18; 66:1) with positions for you and for me (Mt 16:18; Jn 14:2). When Messiah comes “then he shall reward every man according to his works” (Mt 16:27; cf. Rv 20:12) — we are in training now for those positions that will be our reward then — and so this side of immortality we hold those rewards provisionally (Rv 3:11): “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown."

When certain in the ministry asked for a sign, Messiah said there would be none except that of the prophet Jonah (Mt 12:39-41). Therefore not just Adam and Melchizedek and Isaac and Joseph and David are types of the Messiah -- so also is Jonah.
